"Crocuses"
Oil on canvas. 25×30 cm, 2023,
unframed

This artwork became especially meaningful to me because it was the first painting I created after a long break from painting. Through it, I wanted to convey a feeling of awakening and hope, like the first warm rays of sunlight beginning to warm the earth after winter. For me, it represents a moment of transition: from winter to spring, from stillness to renewal, from a creative pause to inspiration again.

The white buds symbolize freshness, tenderness, and the beginning of something new. They dissolve into a warm, vintage atmosphere, creating a sense of softness and the fleeting beauty of the moment. The loose, slightly rough brushstrokes in the lower part of the painting and on the pot were inspired by the feeling of wet earth after the cold season, while subtle blue accents hint at the sky clearing after winter.

While working on this piece, I explored how to create a light, almost watercolor-like texture using oil paint. I wanted the flowers to feel fragile and delicate, almost emerging from silence. The restrained palette reflects that quiet moment when winter is still present, yet the arrival of spring can already be felt.
